Environmental problems are hazardous effects of man’s activity on our biophysical environment, the living systems that exist within and on this earth. Environmental protection is an important practice of ensuring the quality of the environment for humans, the ecosystem and the planet as a whole.
There are many environmental problems that have been created by man that are causing environmental degradation and causing major problems for the survival of the living things in our ecosystem. Pollution is one of these problems.
It can take many forms, but the results are always the same
When pollution is created, it is absorbed into the soil and in the water that is used to supply our homes, businesses and other areas. The effect of this inorganic substance is the deterioration of the soil and water quality.
Another form of pollution comes from the destruction that human activity has caused in the ecosystem, especially through the introduction of new forms of pollutants. A classic example of this type of pollution is the dumping of industrial wastes into the environment through our activities.
The result of these dumping sites is toxic waste and dumping grounds. Other types of pollution can be the dumping of toxic wastes into the atmosphere. It is also possible for toxic wastes to leak into the water system.
Other types of pollution can be the emissions of carbon dioxide and methane, which are two extremely harmful greenhouse gases, into the atmosphere. There are several different forms of pollution, and each type has its own environmental impact.
There are various methods and means of dealing with these types of problems, which include a variety of techniques. The most common of these techniques is the use of pollution control devices.
These are devices that help to remove pollutants from the air, such as smoke, soot and grease, and also reduce the amount of pollutant runoff into waterways. There are also a variety of environmental remediation techniques that can help to improve the quality of the environment in an area.
Environmental problems are often very damaging effects of human activity on the environment. Environmental protection is usually a process of protecting the environment from harm on both the human and the physical levels, by law. This process of environmental protection also involves measures that will prevent future environmental damage.
The concept of environmental protection can be divided into several categories. These categories include:
- Natural protection
- Physical protection
- Legal protection
- Social protection
- Natural protection mainly focuses on protecting the environment through the use of scientific principles and scientific research in natural sciences. Examples of these include conservation of biological diversity, preservation of the ecosystem, and protection of endangered species.
Natural protection involves using and enhancing natural resources. Examples of such resources include air and water, land and plant life, mineral resources such as petroleum and coal, and natural resources such as fish and coral reefs. Human activities may cause damage to the natural resources but this damage is generally only temporary, as long as the damage is not too great.
- Physical protection involves using science and technology to control the movement of people, animals, and other natural resources. Examples of physical protection include pollution control and creation of barriers such as roads. There are many laws that protect the environment against damage, such as the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.
There are also laws that are implemented by government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency that require businesses to use environmentally friendly resources such as paper products, plastic products, and petroleum-based products.
- Legal protection refers to the protection of natural resources from being destroyed by the actions of humans. These resources may include such things as forests, beaches, and wildlife. Examples of legal protection include the protection of endangered species and the preservation of the ecosystem.
Legal Protection includes insurance cover to cover damage to persons and property, personal injury, business and personal injury claim, and claims for personal injury and property damage, and injury caused by the negligence of the person or company.
For example, you injure a pedestrian, while riding your bicycle. Your insurance covers only that you were at least 20 feet away from the pedestrian, or that the pedestrian suffered no permanent or serious injury.
How would you cope without that insurance?
It is important that your insurance includes legal protection. An accident or an illness can be catastrophic, and one of the best ways to cover your expenses and ensure you get through the ordeal is with insurance cover. Legal protection also enables you to deal with the police in a more orderly fashion.
It does not matter how dangerous or costly the accident, whether it was caused by you, a member of your family or someone else, you will always have a legal right to file a claim. Many people find it difficult to understand why they should need such cover.
They are often told that legal protection protects them from being sued, but what many do not realise is that even if someone has been injured as a result of your negligence or carelessness, they may be able to sue you.
The concept of environmental problems is important to understand because it is the responsibility of those who are responsible for environmental problems to take steps to reduce and eliminate the problems.
The court will consider all the circumstances surrounding the accident, including any witnesses to the accident and any evidence of negligence on your behalf. The court’s verdict is the final judgment in the case, and you will be held responsible for paying the damages in case you lose the case.
If the jury decides in your favour, it is likely you will pay the full amount of your claim. If your claim is rejected, you may also face further legal action by the claimant’s lawyer, and the costs may increase again.
- Social protection, as stipulated by the United Nations Development Programme, is primarily concerned with managing, preventing and overcoming social problems that adversely affect people’s welfare.
The concept of social protection has emerged in many countries and it aims to support the social, economic and cultural development of those who are not adequately prepared to face their own circumstances.
It refers to the provision of some type of assistance or financial assistance to people who are unable to survive on their own, or who are in situations of severe poverty. These types of individuals are usually referred to as the “marginalised” defended”.
A social protection system in most countries provides basic and special benefits to the marginalized and the protected. In some countries, these benefits may be supplemented by social programmes such as income generation programmes and child support programs, among others.
Apart from these, there are also many other benefits to social protection in that it gives a sense of self-worth and empowerment to those who may feel that they are deprived of this.
Although there are many forms of social protection in many countries, there are also some notable differences. For example, the concept of social protection in the USA differs from that in Europe.
On the other hand, social protection in some countries may also encompass benefits for married people and for divorced people. Although these two categories may have some similarities, these categories are distinctly different from one another.
There are many different types of actions that can be taken to address environmental problems
It is essential for everyone to take responsibility for environmental problems. If people do not take responsibility for environmental problems, they cannot be held accountable for them.
One way to ensure that the environment remains healthy and safe is through environmental protection. is to invest in energy efficiency, energy conservation, and renewable energy sources. A well-designed building program to achieve energy efficiency is an effective way to reduce energy consumption.
It is also important to invest in building materials that can be used again and recycled if need be. Water conservation can help to prevent flooding, drought, and other problems caused by water pollution.
It can also help to reduce the effects of greenhouse gas emissions. Water conservation can also include the use of drought-tolerant landscaping. Landscaping can keep water drainage away from the home or business by using structures such as water control systems and retaining walls.
Another good way to save the environment is to implement a recycling program on a regular basis. Recycling is a cost-effective solution to the problem of reducing the use of non-biodegradable and non-renewable resources. Recycling programs can include the collection of
- Paper products
- Tin cans
- Glass products
- Plastic bags
- Plastic bottles
- Wood from households and businesses
Taking precautions and implementing programs to prevent the destruction of natural resources is a good way to provide for a sustainable future. Creating a healthy environment requires that the right tools and information are available.
